Hi my name is Dorian Hotchkiss I am 12 years old. This is my first year showing steer and my 4th year in 4-H. I also enjoy Shooting Sports where I shoot Archery and .22. I will also be showing dairy and a breeding heifer. I really wanted to bring a breed to the fair that was unique and different. My steer is a Belted Galloway raised right here in Routt County. That means you are buying local and supporting local. Don’t let his small frame turn you away. Belties are known for high marbling and low saturated fat content. That means you can eat your steak and feel good about it! When you see Brisket you might want to reach for your favorite glass of milk but when you get his meat home you’ll want your favorite steak sauce. His high carcass yield means more bang for your buck, you’re not only supporting 4-H but getting a great deal too.
So come on down to the 103rd Routt County Fair. Enjoy the BBQ, a funnel cake, maybe a round on the bouncy things but make sure you check out all the fun at the Junior Livestock Sale. See you there!!!
This blog is for the use of all 4-H/FFA livestock members. Members can submit a story about their projects and experiences in 4-H, to be published for you, the buyers!
