![]() My name is Lauren Parks and I am going to be a freshman at Steamboat Springs High School. This is my fourth year raising market lambs and my sixth year in 4-H. My lambs this year are named Bert and Ernie one of them will be for sale in the Jr. Livestock sale and one will be for sale through private treaty. Bert is energetic and spunky and was a blast to work with and Ernie is more shy but still loves to jump around and play. I would like to thank all my my past buyers especially Steamboat Springs Ski and Resort Corporation for buying my 2016 market lamb. ![]() Hi, my name is Sophie Diehl, and I am 13 years old. I am going in to 8th grade at the Steamboat Springs Middle School. This is my 5th year in 4-H. This year I am showing and selling my market lamb, Chili Pepper, showing my pet rabbit, LeMatt, and I also participated in cooking as well as livestock judging. I have been in 4H for four years and am a member of the Elk River Wranglers. I show market lamb, poultry, rabbit, and a very funny horse named Buster. I am very excited to show my lamb Noodle at the fair this year! Outside of 4H, I play soccer, help my dad on the ranch, play the violin and barrel race. I also am involved in leather craft and entomology, both of which made it to the State Fair. In February my steer died so I am showing a breeding heifer. Her name is Cat. I am proud of her because Dad and I picked out an AI bull to breed my cows to, and she is the result. It’s fun to raise quality livestock. My lambs are fun too. This year I am selling a market lamb which I raised myself out of my own ewes. I have two breeding ewes that I am taking to the fair as well. My 4-H projects include breeding and market sheep, which I raise from a small flock of my own ewes. In addition, I raise market hogs and participate in vet science, leathercraft, and livestock judging. The projects I enjoy most are definitely my pig and sheep projects and livestock judging. These projects in particular are pushing me in the direction of a future career in agriculture. This year I am excited to show my livestock at the Routt County Fair. Hope to see you there! I am a member of the Handy Lads and Lassies 4-H club and serve as a club representative. I raise market hogs, market sheep, and breeding sheep and participate in clothing construction. In addition to 4-H, I am also a member of the SoRoCo FFA Chapter and serve as an executive committee member. This year I will be taking my market hog, Gunter and both market and breeding sheep to fair. I would like to thank the Belton family for buying my 2016 market hog. In the past years I have taken dog, horse, horse breeding, market swine, livestock judging, vet science, market goat, breeding goat and new this year breeding sheep and market lamb. My favorite project hands down has to be goats. I have a small herd of show goats. Nothing has taught me more in the 17 years that I've been alive than raising livestock. There's terrible days and then there's great days! I am looking forward to this year's Routt County Fair and hope to see everyone there!!! I graduated from Steamboat Springs High School and will be attending Casper Community College this fall to compete on the livestock judging team! The 4H program has taught me priceless skills and has directed me into my next chapter of life! This year for my market projects I will be showing lambs and chickens. I have completed both of these projects for consecutive years and have gained knowledge and experience. I am excited to show my lambs; Bo and Peep and my meat birds; Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato! I have been working hard with my lambs and chickens and I am looking forward to fair this year! Hope to see you there!
